Samarra Bombing Part of 'Anglo-American-Zionist Plot'

According to this statement from a group calling itself the Pan-Islamic Conference, the bombing of the Sumarra Mosque last month was 'an Anglo-American-Zionist plot.' Why would Washington do this? Published in Iraq's Iraq4all newspaper, the statement says that the Americans want to 'disunite Muslims and trigger internal strife, distracting us from our struggle to defend the dignity of our great Prophet.'

Cairo, February 22, 2006

With immense grief we heard of the tragedy which befell the Immaculate Sepulchers of the two Imams from the House of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), after a gang of heretics assaulted the age-old Dome of the Immaculate Sepulcher in Samara, a place of respect and veneration for Arabs and Muslims, irrespective of creed or origin.

While we condemn this cowardly act of aggression aimed at the Nation and its holy places, as well as at the Iraqi people and its symbols. We call upon our nation to embark on a serious endeavor to target the enemies of the nation and rid the land of this evil horde, led by the American occupation and the Zionist state, which have been sowing seeds of destruction and disunity.

In its timing and objectives, this reviled act of aggression came as a part of an Anglo-American-Zionist plot to disunite Muslims and trigger internal strife, thus distracting us from our struggle to defend the dignity of our great Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).

While we reiterate our denunciation and condemnation, we call upon the Nation to voice its protest against this vile crime, for which the Anglo-American Occupation is to be held fully accountable.

We further call upon the Nation to strengthen and consolidate its unity and call upon our people in Iraq to rise above internal divisions and direct their anger at the enemies of the Nation and the people who are occupying their country.

We express our appreciation for the responsible position held by the religious and political authorities in Iraq, which have shown great serenity and wisdom and a sense of legal, historical, national and pan-national responsibility.

We hereby confirm our willingness to take part in the rapid rebuilding of the Immaculate Sepulcher, under a joint program involving all Iraqis and all noble and free men of the Nation. A restored Sepulcher, rock-solid and grand, will be a symbol of the unity of Iraqi and the Nation.

بيان بإدانة الاعتداء على قبّة مقام الإمام علي الهادي(عليه السلام) في سامرّاء.
تلقينا بألم كبير نبأ الفاجعة التي ألمّت بالمقام الطاهر لإمامين من أئمة أهل بيت رسول الله صلّى اللهُ عليه وآله وصحبه وسلّم، باعتداء حفنة آثمة خارجة عن قواعد الملّة والدين على قبة المرقد المطهّر في مدينة سامراء التي احتضنته على مدى قرون، يؤدّي له فيها فروض الاحترام والتقدير أبناء الأمة العربية والإسلامية على اختلاف مذاهبهم وانتماءاتهم.
إننا إذ ندين هذا الاعتداء الجبان ونشجب هذا العدوان الغاشم على الأمة ومقدّساتها وعلى الشعب العراقي ورموزه، فإننا ندعو أمتنا إلى العمل بكل حزم لاستئصال شأفة الحفنة الآثمة التي تعيث في الأرض فساداً وتهلك الحرث والنسل وتثير الفتن فتكون بذلك أداة خالصة لأعداء الأمة وفي طليعتهم الاحتلال الأمريكي والكيان الصهيوني.
إن هذا العدوان المستنكر يأتي في توقيته وغاياته كجزء من الخطة الأمريكية -البريطانية - الصهيونية لتفتيت وحدة المسلمين وإيقاع بأسهم بينهم وإشغالهم عن التصدي لمحنة الاعتداء على كرامة نبيّهم الأعظم صلّى اللهُ عليه وآله وصحبه وسلّم.
إننا إذ نكرّر الإدانة والشجب، ندعو الأمة إلى إعلاء صوتها احتجاجاً على هذه الجريمة البشعة التي تقع مسؤوليتها الكاملة على عاتق الاحتلال الأمريكي – البريطاني.
كما ندعو الأمة إلى التشديد على وحدتها وتماسكها، كما ندعو أهلنا في العراق إلى الارتفاع فوق الفتن وتوجيه غضبهم ضد أعداء الأمة ومحتلّي بلدهم.
وإننا إذ نحيّي المواقف المسؤولة التي تصدر عن المرجعيات الدينية والسياسية في العراق التي تظهر الكثير من الصبر على الأذى والحكمة والارتقاء إلى قمم المسؤولية الشرعية والتاريخية والوطنية والقومية.
ونعلن في المؤتمر القومي- الإسلامي أننا نضع أيدينا في المبادرة السريعة إلى إعادة بناء المرقد الطاهر مع أيدي العراقيين جميعاً وأيدي الشرفاء والأحرار في هذه الأمة، ليكون في بنائه قوياً صلباً عظيماً شامخاً، بناء لوحدة العراق والأمة.
